Update: Commission Asked to Ban Lead Ammunition
Posted on 02-06-2009
February 9, 2009 - GOC wants to make sure that everybody understands that the CA Fish and Game Commission has not introduced a proposal to expand the lead ammo ban.
The Anti-Hunting Enviros have asked Fish and Game Commission to ban lead ammo statewide!
In its most recent meeting, the California Fish and Game Commission was asked by the anti-gun, anti-hunting environmentalists to consider expanding the ban on lead ammunition from the Condor region to the entire state. That would mean banning ALL lead ammunition including .22 rimfire for ALL hunting uses in the outdoors. This, of course, was expected. We've known all along that the anti-hunting community's goal has always been banning lead statewide. We are not surprised at their request to the Commission.
A recent study produced by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that lead used in hunting ammunition poses no problem to humans.
The anti's request was received very positively by Commissioners Sutton and Rogers but no action was taken on the issue. We are sure that it will come up again. For more information on this, go to the press release issued by our friends at the National Shooting Sports Foundation telling the truth about lead ammunition.
It is very important for all gun owners and hunters to contact the California Fish and Game Commission to express opposition to their consideration of this issue. The Commission can be reached by phone at (916) 653-4899 or visit the website at: www.fgc.ca.gov/. Please be polite and thoughtful when asking them not to take this request under consideration.
Please take the time to make your voice heard by contacting the Commission today!
