Several Thousand Private Citizens!
Posted on 07-08-2009
Several thousand private citizens of California have petitioned by letter, fax, or phone calls to the state Senate Public Safety Committee against the extreme anti-gun bill titled Handgun Ammunition Vendor Licenses. (Otherwise known, this year,as AB 962 and titled Ammunition Registration on the GOC website.)
The Infamous Senate Public Safety Committee, mostly populated with extremely anti-gun Democrats, ignored the wishes of the citizens and voted the bill out of Committee and on to the next step of the legislative process yesterday, July 7, 2009.
This bill is being fought by GOC intensly, and our members are numerically heavy in the "several thousand" that are recorded in the Committee file. Along with us in opposition is the pro-gun coalition of organizations, and firearms dealers throughout the state. They also represent all other gun owners in the state, which we all know is numerically more than any other group that supports or opposes any other issue.
How is it that the Senators feel so safe and so confident in their positions that they have no care to consider the wishes of their constituents? How is it that "several thousand" citizens who voiced their opposition and represent every other gun owner who did not, are of no matter?
We cannot afford a legislature in California who does not care about its citizens or their desires. Each legislator who voted for this bill has voted against every gun owner in the state. AB 962 is a back door to banning guns entirely and making gun ownership illegal here.
There is an election coming up in 2010. Make your plans now to work for good pro-gun candidates. Get going to preserve your guns and your rights.
AB 962 will go next to the Senate Appropriations Committee
