California Senator runs interference for the ATF

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), out of the infamous liberal San Francisco Bay Area, long known for her strong anti-gun stance, tried in the recent Senate Judiciary subcommittee to deflect the attention away from the embattled ATF by accusing the lack of gun control for the scandal known as Operation Fast and Furious, and calling for "some form of registration when you purchase these firearms..."  Feinstein bemoaned the ATF getting "beaten up at every turn"; her sympathy bringing out the desire to cover the ATF's scandalous activity as "mistakes" and then for the second time alludes to the need for a "tool that would be of help...",

...meaning registration of purchasers and guns.  As a reminder, the USDOJ has gone around Congress already as early as July 2011, by mandating that sales of long guns in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas be reported to the ATF.

Showing either her ignorance of the Operation Fast and Furious hearings or her dedication to and support of more anti-gun restrictions, or both, the Senator's remarks are offensive in light of the specific testimony of law abiding gun shop owners who did not like, nor want to, sell weapons to those they saw as straw purchasers, and yet were told by ATF officials to go ahead and sell, being told that they were supporting the ATF sting operation and therefore serving their country well.

Senator Feinstein also expressed that "the main thing she's taken away from Fast & Furious was that ATF was struggling with weak gun laws that forced the agency to use unusual techniques to stem the flow of guns to Mexico..."  One thing we can say for this myopic state Senator, she is committed to her anti-gun stance, when everyone else can see, as Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) at a meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee's Crime and Terrorism Subcommittee does see clearly, saying, "The answer isn't to clamp down on law abiding citizens or gun dealers."

So, the question is being asked, Did Senator Dianne Feinstein, by her questions and discussion at the hearing, inadvertently confirm the ulterior motive behind the scheme known as 'Operation Fast and Furious?'  A scheme to justify a reason to enact more, and more stringent, gun control laws?
