CURE FOR THE MADNESS: Hang Out With Gun Folks at a GOC Event

Have you ever wanted to go off the grid because you are sick and tired of a world that has gone stinking mad?  Are you at the end of your rope with boneheads who think you are the problem in America? Are you outnumbered by socialist nitwits in the workplace?

Believe it or not, there’s a terrific cure to this common malady – even for those who live in the nutso (but beautiful) state of California.

What’s better for the soul than rubbing elbows with people who are strong of mind, body and spirit – and aren’t afraid of guns? Nothing!  A Gun Owners of California dinner is your ticket to some really smart folks who also know how to have a really good time.

Last week, over 500 2nd Amendment faithful piled into the Citrus Heights Community Center (outside Sacramento) for GOC’s Annual Crab Feed and Tri-Tip fundraising dinner.  These dinners are the life blood of GOC’s work at the Capitol, in the courts and elections, but they also present a terrific opportunity to be with people who hate whiners as much as they love their country.  And the food is fantastic – whether it’s mountains of crab, stacks of prime rib or mouth-watering barbeque.

While hateful college students are protesting the American Flag because it represents “different things to different people”, we proudly raise the red, white and blue and pledge our allegiance to it.  Last Friday, a Boy Scout Color Guard did the honors before a packed house of people with their hands over their hearts. How refreshing is that?

Like we said – what’s better than mixing it up with fellow gun owners?  And even if you aren’t into the shooting sports, it’s still fun hanging out with cool folks who speak the same language.  The common interest of the 2nd Amendment runs deep; a rich Constitutional thread binds us, and it doesn’t matter where we live or what we do to pay our bills.  Gun owners are teachers, doctors, police officers, and small business owners.  They are middle aged, elderly and very young (we give away BB guns to the kids at every dinner).  GOC supporter Ted Nugent says that he surrounds himself with “positive, productive people of good will and decency” – which is exactly what you get at a Gun Owners event.

Who wouldn’t want to walk away with a lock (safe), stock (gun*) and bottle (top shelf liquor)?  Or an ocean-side vacation get-a-way, Ted Nugent concert plus meet-and-greet tickets, hunting excursions and guns, guns and did we mention guns?   Gavin Newsom and Michael Bloomberg might have a melt down at the sight of our displays, but they just don’t know how to enjoy themselves.  And even if you don’t win anything, you will leave energized and hopeful that there really are a lot of awesome people out there.  There’s plenty of hooting, hollering and laughter, because it is just plain FUN to enjoy good food, copious drink and the chance to walk away with some awesome gear and yes, guns.

Rather than let the sight of one more stupid protest drive you mad, put the next GOC event on your calendar instead.  It’s a great way to work out frustrations with the boneheads of the world, and do some good while you’re at it.
GOC is does an awful lot with a little – we are the oldest pro-gun political action committee in the country, having been at the forefront of the battle since assaults on the 2nd Amendment began.

Too much time spent with anti-gun malcontents can make one grumpy.  But, if we focus on what binds us rather than what divides us, the goal of more freedoms is far more attainable.  Join us!
