Gun Control’s Shrill Call to “DO SOMETHING!” – Whether It Works or Not…

The piercing tirade of the anti-gun movement has never been so shrill – nor has it ever been so vile. It’s more evidence that the Left won’t neglect an opportunity to exploit someone else’s tragedy, pointing fingers and assigning blame, hollering “Do Something!”

Well, according to columnist David Harsanyi, “Do Something!’ is not going to stop mass shooters and he’s 100% right.  He penned an article (click here to read) of the same name and says of the gun control crowd, “You don’t have a plan to protect innocent men, women, and children. You have a hashtag to placate them.”

This is exactly what’s going on in the aftermath of the two horrific shootings last week. Disguised as sincere compassion and concern, the Left is crying for universal background checks, red flag laws, mandatory gun buybacks and a ban on so-called “military-style” assault weapons.  Their ignorance on these issues is alarming.  Their dishonesty is, too.

A background check would not have stopped either shooting – neither monster had a criminal record.  They had differing political ideologies, so laying this at the feet of any individual or group of people is outrageous and disgusting.  Harsanyi continues, “As much as people try to make sense of these events, to blame someone, these murderers have no real or tangible objectives other than death. Mass shootings aren’t Donald Trump’s fault any more than they are Elizabeth Warren’s, despite the efforts of many in our parasitic political class to turn every drop of American blood into more votes.”

“Parasitic political class” – gotta love that.

Today, politicians from both parties are tripping all over themselves to preach from the pulpit of gun control – again, buying into the “Do Something” hashtag in order to placate those with the loudest voices, whether for universal background checks or red flag laws. These are both areas where conservatives (this includes our President) must tread very carefully because neither will fix the underlying problem of who is actually doing the shooting…and why.

“You don’t have a plan to protect innocent men, women, and children. You have a hashtag to placate them.”

There’s no such thing as a “common sense” gun control law – they are feel-good fairytales.  Consider this week’s Rand Corporation review of whether certain laws would have any bearing on mass shootings.  Guess what? They are ineffective at preventing the carnage caused by these determined killers. In short, the report “uncovered ‘no qualifying studies showing that any of the 13 policies we investigated decreased mass shootings.’”

Want to get at the heart of the problem? Policy makers must be brave enough to look past #hashtag politics and delve into the heart of the shooter.

I like the Ohio governors reply , the states should have the opportunity to test several new laws on mental health , issues . hunters guns should be left out of the mix most states have state laws for hunter education, but any assault rifles semi automatic , pump stocks like pistols back ground check. The difference between the hunter and the shooter are wide its not always a wide brush of one and the same. Maybe ammo purchases , type and usage guns ranges ? Video games need some restrictions for all ages. fire arm safety made need to be taught in some schools, as options in heavy shooting communities or areas of crime .

What is needed is lots of good guys with guns. An armed, well trained, and ready citizenry is our only hope for peace, safety, and freedom; freedom being more important than all.

I think the common sense would be to teach safety early and sensibly, but admittedly there are some people who think everyone with a gun is out to get them. I think from on if I want to let people know I’m for the 2nd Amendment I’ll just stick to this tShirt http://bit.ly/iPacShirts

Freedom loving gun owners need to HABITUALLY write President Trump. He’s surrounded by liberals and will likely cave in to the “do something” madness from BOTH parties. I drop a very friendly pro 2nd Amendment freedom e-mail to the “Contact the White House” website at least once a week. Please, please consider doing the same!
