Bonta Releases DOJ’s Annual Report on Armed and Prohibited Persons System (APPS).
California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta released the Department of Justice’s annual report (3/11/2024) on the 2023 Armed and Prohibited Persons System (APPS). The AG brags about the Department’s stellar work, and the leadership they provide regarding “firearms expertise and information to law enforcement, legislators, and the general public in a comprehensive program to promote legitimate and responsible firearms possession and use by California residents.”
The report does not, however, address the numerous lapses in the system, such as the enormous backlog which has plagued DOJ for years. They did, however indicate that once they receive additional funding for system improvements, they will be better able to accommodate reporting on the status of the backlog. Right.
And in other news, it’s no surprise that there was literally a “ring of steel” set up in advance of the Academy Awards – protecting the glitterati is always a high priority. The hypocrisy of Hollywood was on full display with armed security and LAPD at their service – read about it below!
